I am on my second SSB radio with no success - a Sangean ATS 505. The only station I can barely hear is the time clock on 10000 and then only occasionally. I have hoisted the 23' antenna up the mast, used the attached antenna, and stood everywhere on the boat, leaning every which way. Nothing. Sangean wants me to ship it to them with $20 and no promise of a fix or replacement - so no help there.

I'm not worried about hooking up to my PC (former computer geek) I just need a working radio so I can get Wefax in the Bahamas next season.

I have searched the posts and see that the kaito 1103 is recommended by several members. If I buy this radio what antenna do I also need to buy?
