The amount of fuel getting into the sump sounds way to much for overfueling and passing the rings. As well the engine would be running very badly and black smoking real bad. Not familiar with fuel system but a lift pump diaghram if fitted sounds much more likely as Steve suggested. Even blocked return lines (injector) etc would still not account for that amount of fuel.
