I'd bet a bucket of donuts that one of the pumps diaphragms has ruptured and fuel is leaking at the cam pump. I had a gas engine once rupture. I didn't notice until the motor started knocking because the fuel had thinned the oil. Thought I was out of oil so checked the dipstick and it appeared low. Added 2 quarts and it didn't show on the stick. Added another quart and still didn't register. That's when I noticed the smell of gas on the stick. Pulled the drain plug and dumped 6 quarts of oil and probably a gallon of gas. A mechanic told me he saw a motor with the pan blown off because of fuel in the pan had ignited. Pull the pumps and check the diaphragms, normally not repairable.

Hope that does it.
