I don't know anything about the Honeywells, but I agree with Freerider. There are plenty of cheaper portables/semi portables on the market. AFAIK they all work fine and AFAIK they are all LOUD. The primary reason for the Honda's popularity is that it is relatively quiet - and for regular use on a sailboat that's worth something.
