Shannon 38

Greetings
I have a 1980 Shannon 38. The boat has been hauled. There are two questions I have, 1. There is a two inch gap between the top of the rudder and the bottom of the hull running the full width of the rudder. Is this normal?. I worry about a crab pot float getting lodged there. If anyone has a 38 out of the water, how about some measurements of the rudder. 2. On the port side two feet up from the start of the cutaway forefoot, there is a spot that is leaking desiel fuel. I have be told this is not possible. Told it is a fiberglass patch job gone bad. I sanded the spot dry, found a small crack in the glass, came back the next day and the wet spot had reappeared. The fuel tank was replaced in 2004, prior to my getting the boat. I fixed the glass crack, barrier coated and painted her bottom. Still when I run water over that spot, you see a obvious sheen in a inverted V from where I fixed the crack. I have checked the hull for any delamination all around the spot and can't find any, anywhere. No blisters or any other imperfections. Any clue? obxmedic!
