Canned bacon is not far from the truth...
Real cowboys ate out of cans - ever see pictures from the old American West? Every house, campsite or mine had giant piles of empty cans. Period journals and letters very often complain of canned foods.
I imagine Holywood cowboys ate at a buffet and drank cocktails when the cameras weren't rolling.
As for canned and pre-cooked bacon? My personal opinion is that they are fine if mixed with something (say on a burger, BLT or in beans). By itself it is less than desirable. But better than nothing to say spruce up a plate of eggs.
