The first one I tried was heating the hose some more. I thought it would be good for a first try because it is reversible.

I made a pot of boiling water and dipped the end of the hose in it for about 2 minutes. (It seems like a long time when you're doing it.) This actually worked, though if I have to do it again, I will also lubricate it.

Of all the things I worked on today, this was the only one that went smoothly...
