Having watched the joy-stick piloting of a large ferry, I don't see why it wouldn't. I helped rig a remote tiller (the blocks and rope kind of remote) into the cabin of a little sloop once. I certainly expect that would count as an inside steering station, but the boat was not a 'Deck Salon'...
