Taller MAst

Hi
I understand that since the Buchan was built in the Northwest (Seattle)
and raced there amongst the Islands they went with taller masts to catch the lighter winds, but that cruisers who are out in open waters went with the shorter masts. I don't know if this is true or not but seems to make sense. I have found that one of the most knowledgable riggers in the northwest is Port Townsend Rigging, and wow did they know there stuff when it came to Buchan's and they are very freindly and helpful
