Re: CMP GIVEAWAY - ends Sept 30th, 2019

I currently have a Rocna 15 I love it. However the roll bar interferes with my code zero bowsprit slightly. I would love a Vulcan 15. I'm departing the Chesapeake Bay in November for a single handed...

Re: KISS Boats???????????

I think my boat is fairly close to KISS.

I sail an Alberg 30. The inboard engine has been removed and a 6hp has been added to a well in what used to be the lazarette.

I have 300 amp/hr...

Re: Lower Chesapeake Bay Afternoon Squall

I was boarded and inspected by CG, 35 miles offshore of Cape Henry, VA. I saw and heard them from a few miles away. They launched a RIB and put two guys on my boat. They were polite and courteous, I...

Re: Shannon 28; offshore anyone?

If the boat is in good condition, I'd happily sail a Shannon 28 offshore. For comparison I sail an Alberg 30, which actually is a smaller boat than the Shannon. (shorter water line and narrower...

Re: Best time to head north from the Bahamas

I sailed north from Brunswick, GA at the beginning of May last year and had favorable winds and not too many storms. I sailed up the coast years ago in early April and it was very different we got...

Re: Carib Cruising on 30 with Atomic

I'm planning a mostly solo circumnavigation in an Alberg 30 with a 6hp outboard. (a boat that James Baldwin refit for a previous owner)

Make sure you are comfortable with sailing in all types of...

Re: Got a plastic classic?

This is my 1972 Alberg 30 "Lora". The picture is my brother and I leaving Brunswick, GA heading to Annapolis, MD. We made the trip in 7 days, 6 of them offshore. James Baldwin did the refit. Here are...

Re: Great Boats at Great Prices?

I've been following this thread for awhile and I think it is great. I don't anything about this boat but thought it certainly deserved a mention here. It's a Halberg-Rassy Rasmus. It's certainly...

Re: What was your most scariest boating moment.

My father and I purchased a Westsail 32 in Florida at the end of January 1995. We waited for spring to bring the boat back to the chesapeake bay, after spending a couple of months in the Abacos. In...

Good luck with the sail and survey. I'm local to the Washington DC area. I occasionally teach sailing across the river from National Harbor. I would offer one caution, the river around National...

We used to have a 10' RIB with a 15HP. It would plane nicely with 2 people fairly easily with 3, but with four adults it was very tough to get it to plane. So I would suggest for the speed your...
