Thanks to all for your comments. Especially Paul L. I emailed Pettit and was advised to sand with 80 grit and apply trinidad over the ecoclad.

I see your point. I have a diver scrub the waterline and props monthly and he now says it is time for bottom paint.

Thanks for your reply. At the moment, the HRSI is not connected. When it was, the red light stayed on all the time. I also have 280 watts of solar routed thru a Morningstar 45 to 4 group 29 deep...

I bought a Rutland 913 wind generator (used) and have mounted it on a pole starboard/stern of my 9 meter Catalac catamaran. No instructions included with the unit (of course!)....

4 days and it still works! Beginners Luck for sure. Not plugged in to shore power and have not started engines. Batteries showing 78% charge. Solar panels are the way to go!

UPDATE--It has been 36 hours since I charged the system and so far, so good. 35 degrees in the fridge. Total cost=less than $50 and I learned a great deal.

I saw the same ad fro Harbour Freight. Checked it out. Same setup as what I have now....no adapters. A friend told me to go to Advance Auto Parts and get a conversion kit (R12 to R134a) for $15. ...

Very busy weekend! Found the leak. A friend who can braze much better than I do fixed it for me. Pulled a vacumn on the system and it held. Time to charge the system. Discovered that the loaner...

Been reading Richard Kolliman this afternoon. 50/50 mix water & soap in a spray bottle=leak detector:thumb:. It is worth a try.

Found out today that Autozone will loan a refrigeration vaccumn pump and gauges at no charge to D.I Y. All you have to do is buy the R134a from them at $10 a can. Very interesting.....

Yeah....I work real cheap compared to what others charge me. I am pretty handy and can fix most things around the boat myself. But, this one is out of my league. All I really wanted was cold beer...

I also bought my frigoboat conversion from Peterson Marine and installed it myself. No complaints with them at all. They are in Odessa and I am located southshore/Ruskin area. Peterson's service...

I am at the end of my rope! I bought a frigoboat icebox conversion kit a year ago and did my own installation. It worked great for about 6 months but now it leaks Freon and will not hold a charge....

Yes, I am aware that the whole system must be evacuated and recharged. Luckily, I have a friend that can help with that part.

Thanks Steve. You are correct. Everything about the two evaporators is identical except the price. I strongly suspect the fittings may be identical also but would really like to know for sure...

I had the bottom of my Catalac 9 meter catamaran stripped, barrier coated and painted with Eco-clad last month. Too early for a verdict but so far I am happy.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I have previously used Micron 66 and was mostly satisfied with the results. I got over 3 years of protection from it. I was going to reapply the same product again...
