Re: Zincs for SD 20 Saildrives

I have installed hundreds of the 2-pc Yanmar saildrive anodes over the years, both zinc and aluminum. They all seem to perform well and last a long time. I suspect the OP has some issue other than...

Re: Need help finding a suitable prop anode

Umm... yes there is. It's called Military Specification A-18001K and the best anodes are produced using it. Zinc anodes are an alloy of metals. They are not 100% zinc. And if you think that picking...

Re: Need help finding a suitable prop anode

I submit that smelting depleted anodes to cast a "new" one is not only a major PITA, but probably an excersize in futility, as far as protecting your underwater metals goes. Spent anodes cannot...

Re: Need help finding a suitable prop anode

This will not work. While you may be able to shorten the zinc, you cannot modify the nut.

Re: Need help finding a suitable prop anode

You are more than fairly restricted. You are shit out of luck. There is no prop nut and anode configuration made that will work in the space you have available.

What is your shaft diameter and how...

Re: Prop Rope Cutter

Modern synthetic lines will not "burn" off a prop shaft. What they will do is melt into a solid ring.

Re: Max Prop or Not?

The Autoprop failures were not internet hype. I have witnessed such failures multiple times. That said, the prop has apparently been redesigned to eliminate these problems. However (for whatever...

Re: Max Prop or Not?

Any version of Max Prop can be installed, removed, adjusted and lubricated underwater. No reason to haul for any of this work, regardless of model.

Re: Need advice on San Francisco bay

Marina Village is probably the nicest marina in the Bay Area. Jack London Square Marina is less user-friendly and parking is definitely a pain. There are good restaurants & bars close by however. ;-)

Re: Unusual prop zinc anode

There is no washer and/or additional nut, only the cone-shaped nut that accepts the (in your case) "C" anode. The nut has slots in the cone portion of it so that a cotter pin can be installed through...

Re: Underwater Lights- antifouling

You can't. And depending upon the fouling conditions where your boat lives, simply "rubbing with your hand" may not be sufficient to clean them. Unless you are willing to get into the water to do it...

Re: Unusual prop zinc anode

The screw attachment is not the only contact point for this style of anode. It mounts on a cone-shaped nut and much of the nut is in contact with the anode.

Re: Bottom Paint in Lake Worth - South Florida

I suggest you always clean your hull with the softest media possible. This is the way to make your anti fouling paint perform well throughout its lifespan, as well as extending its lifespan. But...
