Re: Best 35-40 footer for a couple going anywhere.

Yeo, my contessa 32 will exceed much of your criteria……however I would not recommend one because size and tankage limits storage and interior volume.Fabulous boat for single hander and a keen sailor...

Re: What if.....There's a death at sea

as a footnote to the above: The authorities were" convinced" that Tangvald was a murderer because he and his young son were alive! They knew well that encounters with these pirates usually resulted...

Re: Sailing the Hudson to Long Island Sound

O.k. I do this trip almost every year for past 40 years , often alone and haven't been shot at once! Never saw a body either. Have sailed this route both ways W/o any engine as well, but is NOT to...

Re: What if.....There's a death at sea

In the days of yore, the body was sewn into his hammock with a cannon ball at his feet; the last stitch was thru the nose of the deceased, just in case.

Peter Tangvald ,mentioned above,was arrested...

Re: Predictong Swells - looking for a source

I'm impressed ! Probably because I'm not sure I understand the graphs and SMB Sver-
Munk -Breyschnieder equations are the type of thing that made me want to go sailing rather than pursue an...

Re: Unattended at Anchor

So those singlehanded sailors that sail alone around the world ( an endeavor that to my mind is the highest act of seamanship) are guilty of poor seamanship if they ever choose to go ashore ? Well I...

Re: Mold - how to prevent it?

Open up your boat as much as possible. Am always amazed to see boats in a safe marina sealed up and locked tight. Now add hot sun beating down from above and water in bilges and the warm moist air...

Re: Short Ends

! always keep a few short lengths (5-12') of line handy esp. when doing more than a daysail. Just what you need when things get frisky and dingy lashings start working loose or some of those...

Re: Where doesit end?

It doesn't end….the world is round (sort of) so just get in your boat and find out.

Re: Flex-O-Fold Propellers vs Kiwi

I need to muddy these waters (pun).
My aperture will only allow a 15" prop; now a 3 blade on a 1" shaft and no room for anything folding. So the only feathering prop that I'm aware of is the...

Re: What is your weather window?

Depends, I like Boatmans 3 day"favorable" forecast for a long ocean passage. However with a strong crew and a sturdy craft I might embark on a passage that I would not attempt with a green crew, but...
