Re: Live and charter own sailing boat in the Phils

One group that would pay that for sure is divers.

Re: Assessing Your Partner

A boat has only one captain and based on your OP I assume you are the captain. Seems for one the more capable of movement, you, should be the one going up front while he maintains the cockpit. The...

Re: Live and charter own sailing boat in the Phils

Have you given any thought to how much you would charge? This will be a big indicator as most things are very cheap in The Philippines. Many rooms are available for $10 to $20 a day or $100-200/...

Re: CA tax aggravation - vessel on east coast

CA has the power to extract money from your bank account without trial. Stay with it until it's resolved.

Re: Potential Buyer Asking for a "Test Drive"

What exactly would he need to confirm on a sea trial? Motoring in the harbor seems reasonable. If he can give you a specific list, a signed contract and a deposit you should consider it. He should...

Re: Live and charter own sailing boat in the Phils

Can't see enough customers to do that as a business. As transport you can sail people from Bantayan to Malapasqua. Maybe something in Boracay if you can cut a deal with a resort. But for certain...

Re: Time Keeps Slipping Away...

You can do this with a 50 to 100k boat budget. Don't know about cats, start off with a mono - that's real sailing!

Re: Nov - May Female Crew Key West to Belize to Bahamas

Some serious thread drift. Need to get back to Johnny finding a young bed warmer with 20 years of sailing experience. Would you consider sailing to Asia?

Re: Time Keeps Slipping Away...

What was it that allowed them to sail off while you watched? Bigger savers?

Frankly speaking $750,000 is a foolish layout for someone who never sailed, unless 750k is play money. Could easily...

Re: Long distance ownership

My vote would be for a trailer sailor. For one thing it would allow you to confirm the boats readiness prior to leaving home.

Re: What do I bring as Crew?

You would really have to be a seat of the pants type person to make than work. Where would you plan to reside once the crew arrives at the destination?

You can have a modest boat for similar...

Re: What Would You Do W/ $700K

Just move and stop wasting your life away complaining. You only get so many years. Canada? Sweden?

Move along.

Re: 50 and Ready To Shove Off

Get yourself a cheap old first boat, 30' +/-, and get on with it. Fiberglass is fine. Your first boat will likely not be your last anyway.

Oh yea, ever try to break thru fiberglass hull? Ever...

Re: First boat that will teach me what I need to know...

A boat you can trailer for 2 years will save you a bundle. With your time horizon it's a great way to go. I thought about the trailer sailor but went with a 30 ft with inboard and most systems...

Re: Fuel pump for fuel polishing system - Continuous duty pump necessary?

Probably true in the US as fuel quality is high. In some parts of the world less so. Have read numerous accounts of bad fuel on this forum.

Re: New yacht - Old engine?

An engine install has a high cost of labor. Put the best engine in you can as only variable is cost of engine labor cost is a constant. i.e. no sense putting in a $1000 engine when labor is $2000. ...

Re: CNG stoves

Thanks John, you are probably right but does not hurt to ask. Many DOE stations don't want to bother with a tank refill. My tank should last another year or two.
