I not only sound them, I log the sounding of them...off and on. Same for nav lights and even anchor light in some anchorages.

Unfortunately, more for legal, insurance reasons than the Colregs.

Understand that generally they don't tow long distances, but the basics are the same, just...

My boat had hydrolyzed through 5 layers of mat and roving on the starboard side, 6 feet by 6 feet. It had other smaller and less deep spots also.

The surveyor did not note anything other than many...

in the Eastern US, many new modems issued by Comcast has an open wifi port that is usable by any customer. There are literally dozens around ports and anchorages I have been to and am happy to take...

Several dozen boat I have helped salvage had the bilge pumps still running off the batteries the next morning when we raised them.

Thru hulls with a ball valve are not a great idea compared to a flanged sea cock bolted, screwed or glued to the hull.

Unless you have no clue, a true thru hull should never allow you to sink....

I attended a lecture from an Alaskan fisherman who survived in the north Pacific for 3 days IIRC, and another 3 or 4 on a snow covered island in below freezing temps.

He was in a standard...

Roller trailers are fine if there are enough rollers for the weight of he boat.

They have to be in the right places.

Many trailers are roller only, no bunks.

Except for the boats with large removable fishboxes, etc that might fall out as the boat rolls if the latches are undone or broken (before or from the weight of stuff inside the fishbox).

Only boats 20 feet and under in the US are required to have positive flotation....

Just read the the NMMA requires it for boats 26 and under to be certified...have not Co firmed that.

Actually many Whalers have a pretty thin skin or that foam.

We pulled one off the rocks last year that lost over half of its bottom. Yep...didn't sink and we towed it a mile back to a marina.

Might have had an air pocket keeping it so level.

I have raised probably 50 or more central consoles that have sunk in their slips.

A huge number of them...at least 50 percent may have floated,...

Very true....at least to be skeptical.

The USCG lives saved number while accurate in one regard, doesn't necessarily mean that something or someone else wouldnt have saved those people either.

It lasts that long in the arctic....

I found one a week after initial activation and when we pulled it up...the battery was dangling from the wires as the bottom had been knocked off at some...
