Re: Update All option on Desktop, not on Laptop

Perhaps I misunderstand the "Update All" option. I only loaded charts of my cruising grounds so update all, if I understand it correctly, only updates the chart groups listed in the Chart Downloader...

Re: Update All option on Desktop, not on Laptop

Well, that solves that. I wonder why it was made optional? The user would always have the option of clicking on it or not if the button was always present.

I get the option to "Update All" on my desktop but not on my laptop. Both have 4.8.0 installed and both have Win 10 to the latest level. I must be doing something wrong.

Both also have Downloader...

No, iPads are not waterproof but you can easily buy a cover that is.

Re: Feature Requests

Oh well, I take that as a no, as in no plans to offer an iPad version. I was just hoping.....

I Googled Gatekeeper which seems to be just like the definition of the name. I would think Microsoft...

Re: Feature Requests Apple iPad app

I apologise in advance on an issue that must have been discussed ad nauseam but I can't find a definitive answer anywhere (forum or internet).

Are there any plans to offer an OpenCPN Apple iPad...

Re: Buoys labeled on Desktop but not on Laptop

The manual is rather daunting, OpenCPN has all the hallmarks of a program that grew by a lot of incremental adds with lots of shortcuts for experienced users. Nevertheless, it has a ton of features...

Re: Buoys labeled on Desktop but not on Laptop

I didn't know that hitting the "T" key overrode the selection on the options screen. It makes sense, T for Text.

Thanks for the help.

Conversion of ENC to SENC format

Before the first viewing of a new ENC chart, I understand that it has to be converted to SENC format.

Question: Is there any way to do the conversions all at once on a chart group so when you...

Re: Waypoints and Route Points

Hi Fabbin,

Sorry for the delay, I've left my boat in Florida for the holiday season and will return after the new year so I've been doing a lot of traveling.

Your workaround is interesting. I...

Re: Waypoints and Route Points

Are the COE surveys only available as PDFs?

In fact, I keep my routes on my computer. If I modify a route I'll update it on the computer, then clear all the routes and waypoints from my GPS and...

Re: Waypoints and Route Points

Fabbin,
The chartplotter I'm using is a Garmin492. The Garmin Homeport software for Windows also does not edit route "turning points" in a text box. It does edit waypoints. It would seem a simple...

Re: Waypoints and Route Points

A route formed by the route tool and uploaded to any chartplotter does indeed form a route. The problem is that I haven't found any chartplotter yet that will allow the waypoints to be edited in a...

Re: Feature Requests

Fabbin,

I am aware of the technique of generating the waypoints first and then knitting them together in a route. It certainly is a work around but creating a route on the chart with the Route...

Re: Feature Requests

Requested new feature:
The option to create waypoints instead of marks in a route.

Why:
Many PC programs and chartplottes (Garmin and others) do not allow the editing of mark in a route unless...

Re: Way to edit multiple routes using same waypoints

The route manager can be used but I wanted to edit graphically for convenience. BYW, OpenCPN is a great product. I use it for form new routes from ACOE waypoints.

Re: Route exports okay but no waypoint names

Well, it all comes down to the difference between points on a route and waypoints. I can create a route on PolarView without creating waypoints. What appears on the chart and when transferred via GPX...

Re: Route exports okay but no waypoint names

More experimenting today. The problem I think is that OpenCPN just transfers the route and not the waypoints in a route. I used the OpenCPN route to transfer a GPX route to Navimatics Charts and...

I will try the suggestions Tuesday. Keep in mind that the PolarView GPX file exports fine to the Garmin Mobile app but the OpenCPN file does not (relative to including waypoint names).

I will...

I have other examples where the waypoint name is the same length and recognized by PolarView or the Garmin Mobile app as long as the GPX file did not come from OpenCPN. There is something that some...
