Re: Any DIY portable anodes to prevent galvanic corrosion?

Re: Why? Jibs on America’s Cup Catamarans

I guess you have never tried to tack a catamaran that didn't have a jib hoisted.

Re: Any DIY portable anodes to prevent galvanic corrosion?

In all likelihood, the problem is aboard your boat, not the neighbor's. You need to have an electrician find (and fix) the problem rather than looking for a band aide or pointing fingers.

Re: Some Help Identifying this Boat PLZ!

I don't think so. The port lights aren't right. The Kelly Peterson 44 has a double port light just forward of the cockpit. The OP's boat does not. The shape of the port lights is different as well.

Re: Any DIY portable anodes to prevent galvanic corrosion?

There's a reason outdrives have so many anodes mounted in so many places. Hanging an anode overboard and wiring it to the engine block will almost certainly not get the job done.

Re: Unbridled Stupidity and the Viking Longship

Of course it's the issue. Had the principals of the voyage contacted the proper authorities in both countries prior to arriving (as anybody planning to sail across an international border might...

Re: Unbridled Stupidity and the Viking Longship

Unfortunately, the Great Lakes Pilots Association is a Canadian organization, not an American one. So I'm sure the information that was given by them was relevant and correct for Canadian waters....

Re: Examples of Bottom Fouling Rate in San Diego Bay

Nobody in San Diego is getting away with quarterly cleanings and the ocassional sail. As indicated by Yeti's pix, the growth rate there is far too robust for your methodology to result in a clean...

Re: Needing suggestions on sailing from California and ending somewhere in Europe

"Don't let them discourage you"? We're talking about three people, (two of whom have no sailing experience and one of which is a baby) taking a risky ocean voyage in a very small boat designed for...

Re: Needing suggestions on sailing from California and ending somewhere in Europe

In a public forum, you and your "experienced" husband are proposing a dangerous voyage in a vessel absolutely not designed for it and on top of that, you intend to take an infant along with you? And...

Re: Unbridled Stupidity and the Viking Longship

Re: Multihull bottoms

While the Line-X paint might not create much drag, the fouling it will allow to attach certainly will.

Re: Gori prop internal fouling

Maybe having the prop cleaned once in a while might prevent this from happening. Just sayin'. :whistling:
