Re: Stopping in CUBA to refuel....

Windlove is correct; while I've seen postings stating that since June 2019 "You can't sail to Cuba on a private yacht", it seems that the writer came to that conclusion since the "People to People"...

Re: Wallilabou and/or Kingstown, St Vincent and the Grenadines

It's been a few years since I was there, but I enjoyed it. We did run a line from the stern to a tree on shore with a bow anchor out front.

Re: Stopping in CUBA to refuel....

I just sailed to Cuba in May just prior to the administration shutting down visits by yachts. Hemmingway does have fuel; if you do decide to do that, you will have to exchange dollars at the hotel...

Re: Advice on navigating Newburyport, MA

Thanks to all of your help. My trip was successful; I left Boston at 4:30am and arrived Newburyport around 2pm, right at slack tide. Navigating the channel was not difficult (except for one sharp...

Re: Advice on navigating Newburyport, MA

FYI - there is a 24 hour cancellation policy and you get the whole deposit amount back if you cancel outside of 24 hours. The refunds are on a marina by marina basis. I know this to be true as I...

Re: Backing up a 31 ft sail boat

When I first started sailing, a captain had me back up through a mooring field for practice. The technique he showed me was to use bursts of reverse and then put the gear in neutral to help counter...

Re: The Live aboard stereotype.

If it helps, I am not a liveaboard who has a boat in a Boston marina that claims to have the largest liveaboard population in New England. Most boats are tidy, but definitely look like they have...

Re: Where did I go wrong?

What's your ROI on your son? With college, etc., I'm still paying in... It's almost as bad as a boat (ok, nothing is as expensive as a boat!). At least with a boat, if it gets too expensive, you can...

Re: Starting out in Florida?

I agree with Sanibel Sailor. Especially if you're looking to get your feet wet (haha; nautical joke), the gulf is a great place. I've been in Ft. Myers two years with a 43' C&C, and it has been...
