Re: Diesel Tank Fittings and Plumbing

The attached picture shows the bulkhead running between the two aft cabins, the left is the aft end of the boat and the sloped wooden panel is the companionway steps. It sits directly above the...

Re: Diesel Tank Fittings and Plumbing

Thanks for the help so far. Tank is ordered. Next question is the vent. My original plan was to put the vent on the transom but that will require a 1m Long flat run of hose before I can go...

Re: Diesel Tank Fittings and Plumbing

How was the noise from the tank after you got everything back together? I am hoping 4 inches of memory foam provides a decent sound attenuation and the baffle helps keep the noise down...

The...

Re: Diesel Tank Fittings and Plumbing

The drawing I included is not to scale... the fuel pickup area is 39 cm deep whereas the tank is ~90cm long and 15 cm tall on the outside edge. Actually the tank it is replacing was in the bilge...

Diesel Tank Fittings and Plumbing

I started another thread for advice on diesel tanks, but the scope of my project has changed enough so I am starting another one. I am replacing the 1 tank in the bilge with 2 tanks under the after...

Re: Advice for Diesel Tank(s)

Sure is, plenty of space for valves and probably the pump. The problem is getting from that side of the tank to the engine requires a very long hose run around the back of the head and drilling...

Re: Advice for Diesel Tank(s)

I can't find any pre-made plastic tanks that fit this space. Ronco has a tank that is close to the size of my 4 water tanks, but it is too wide. The height of the tanks is only 26cm maximum and...

Re: Advice for Diesel Tank(s)

Thanks for the good feedback on plumbing. Actually I would like to run dual fuel lines to the engine as described by Scout 30, but I don't have space for all the necessary fittings and pumps where I...

Re: Advice for Diesel Tank(s)

The diesel tank will get replaced with a copy of the current tank. Getting access to everything was quite a job so I thought while I am at it i can convert the water tank to get more diesel storage....

Advice for Diesel Tank(s)

Wife said diesel smell had to go so the project to inspect the tank moved up the list. I am glad it did as when I removed the tank there was a puddle of diesel under the tank. I think the tank had...

Re: Repowering with Beta 50 - misc questions and accessories?

Regarding the shaft seal, Beta specifically says not to take water from the impeller as it would rob the engine of cooling water. Beta would tap the raw water exhaust fitting right where it exits...

Re: Help me identify this portlight, and replace the gasket

Time for an update. I ordered the replacement seals from hatchmasters.com who were quite helpful on the phone. They sold seal by the foot which I cut to length and did a trial fit. Once I was...

Re: Repowering with Beta 50 - misc questions and accessories?

Wanted to give an update. The overheating was caused mostly due to the through hull being too small. The old Lombardini had a 3/4 inch thruhull but the Beta requires a minimum 1 1/4 inch. I think...

Re: Repowering with Beta 50 - misc questions and accessories?

160548Progress. Engine is in and bolted to the stringers. Doing all the misc connections now.

The Lombardini was a very compact engine. The Beta 50 barely fitsóbut importantly it does fit. ...
