Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
I was in Nassau at the turn of the century and looked over a couple of big Gold Coast charter cats. Both of them were powered by a pair of good sized outboards, maybe about 50hp each, what surprised...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
You may be right about ply/polyester, the US was a bit late with using epoxy, so as you say, they may have used a powder type glue but if it were resorcinol, that would be every bit as good as epoxy...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
Agreed, I don,t see why the Mainecat was posted. Those C48s are a nice cat, I sailed on one from west palm beach to the Bahamas 20 years ago. May or may not be a good deal,

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
I did not notice that the guy was also claiming to be the designer. I have actually sailed on a tristar (not a triair) 35 that a friend built many years ago. I agree that there are differences like...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
The trimaran looks like a Hartley, very old school from back in the Piver era. I think they were a decent design of the time and would make a nice cruiser. If the construction is to the standard of...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
Could be a nice cat for someone who values sailing performance over interior although at 47ft that won,t be bad either. Note the bridgedeck clearance.

Cherise,
Yes , when you walk around on a 3000 and I'm sure the 32 and 3400 models you will find it springy but I don't think its a big deal, these are large areas without the benefit of significant...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
I don't know how many 105s were built by Hunter, not many I expect as I believe they are now built by Catalina. To be honest I was fully expecting the hunter built one to be a lot better than the...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
Just so folks know, this is not a 1976 boat, it is a 3200. I own a 1988 Gemini 3000 and the 3200 was the next itteration, it is probably a 1989 - 1992 I think. Although the 3000 and 3200 look a lot...

I looked over that boat at the marina when the builder was assembling it prior to it first launching, it was very much an amature build, quite rough. The ad is written in a way that would suggest it...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
That boat is a late 1980s maybe early 90s. You can tell by the double spreader rig. I own a 1988 Gemini 3000 and it has a single spreader rig about 2ft further aft and a 2ft shorter stick. That boat...
