Re: Atlantic 57 Catamaran Capsized

Perhaps this 'gamefishing under sail' cat could solve a few problems simultaneously,...significantly reduced height of the rig for the same sail area,....and able to quickly get rid of sail to land...

Two Atlantic 57 Catamaran Capsizes, why not MastFoil

In Leopard's case I don't think the design of the vessel would have made much of a...

Re: Atlantic 57 Catamaran Capsized

I've seen waterspouts off in the distance out in the Bahamas and the Gulf Stream that appeared to come out of relatively clear skies.

And if you look thru a number of tornado videos you may find...

2) and a calm after the event...

I submit that the 'mainstaysail' of my aftmast rig might just as well performed as this reefed mainsail in these 2 examples, and/or as I have suggested for bigger wind conditions a...

Re: Atlantic 57 Catamaran Capsized

I just read Chris' initial report, and I have to agree with him.

As it appears there were no real erratic winds prior to the capsize, and relatively calms winds immediately after. It just had to...
