Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
Boracay Yes, I've read quite a lot of the thread - can't remember whether I started at the beginning though! To look at a $350k boat from USA, it will be at least $100k to land it here after... |

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
Ok, can I ask a dumb question? I'm trying to compare landed cost of importing a boat against buying one advertised locally. What is the normal situation for GST when Australian brokers advertise? ... |

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
Many small appliances available in Australia or SE Asia are manufactured as dual voltage, with some auto-sensing. Just look out for that aspect when checking them out. I only have limited... |

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
Here's a map of inclination. It is probably a case of cheaper compasses not being designed to tolerate the range and in particular the dip at higher latitudes. Do more expensive compasses include a... |

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
My guess (thats all it is) is that if you bought the boat in the name of a company, and that company was not Australian then you could likely bring it to Australia without Au registration or import... |

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
Congrats. Enjoy your rest but then share some 'do and don'ts' please! I'm still agonizing over several different boats, really need to stand on them first, but can't escape work and personal... |

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
Dragon Lady Good luck, keep us informed. I've been in Noumea on business, but leaving this afternoon. Went for a stroll along the fingers in a marina yesterday - place is pretty full, and some... |

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
The guy who told me about the "government sting" (he was unimpressed ....) said it didn't matter what gas was in it, but I haven't verified that. But re-gassing here is not a drama at all, as... |

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
Here is some info - haven't tried to understand it all since it seems to me that this permit thing is just another government rip-off. But if you arrive with a gassed unit you will have little... |

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
Yes, a friend got hit with $900 for air-con/refrigeration gas. I was suprised by the $400 figure quoted earlier in the thread. Apparently the same permit applies to one-off boat imports as it does... |

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
Just joined, haven't lurked here long but have been on a different forum for a while. I have been searching Yachtworld for quite a while, hoping to choose a boat to import. I'm still torn between... |
