Re: Help / FAQ

What kind of charts are you trying to see, RNCs or ENCs? Do you have OpenGL enabled?

Re: Help / FAQ

I can confirm that this works properly in 4.8.8. If I create some waypoints, then created a route which uses those waypoints, then make the route invisible a dialogue box asks if I want to make the...

Re: Help / FAQ

I've never used layers in OpenCPN but my understanding is their purpose is to provide a "protected" space for objects you want displayed on charts. Thus, it makes sense that if you try to import a...

Re: Help / FAQ

I'm not sure where you're having trouble. If you connect the GPS to the same USB port using the same adapter Windows will assign the same COM port number to it. With everything connected you tell...

Re: Help / FAQ

Is there any chance you could have minimized OpenCPN rather than closing it? That would explain the FrameWinPosX=-31984, FrameWinPosY=-31944 entries in the opencpn.ini file. Those values have been...

Re: Help / FAQ

Is the GPS you're using a BU-353? If so, the blinking red light indicates it is getting power from the USB port and has located itself. There's no guarantee that Windows has assigned it a com port...

Re: Help / FAQ

I really like mine. The ride is so much more comfortable than on its predecessor, a Hunter 25.

My BU-353 GPS came with a little program that shows the data it's sending so you can see if...

Re: Help / FAQ

There's an "OK" button to click when you see that message. Then OpenCPN will go ahead and run, but without a GPS connection.

Usually what causes that is Windows hasn't detected the GPS yet. ...

There's no "Set depth" option there. There are fields for entering shallow depth, safety depth, and deep depth. Those settings affect the color on the rendered charts, but there is nothing I have...

Maybe I've missed it, but one of the justifications for replacing raster charts with vector charts was that the chart plotting software could be cognizant of your draft and give you a warning if a...
