ETA for Active Route

The method used to calculate the ETA for the full (active) route is different in Route Properties dialog and in Route Information Window (the small display in top right corner).

For current leg,...

Re: Feature Requests

Some time ago I filed a request to include the timestamp in the waypoint properties display and in the Route Manager, including sorting. This should also help in removing lots of spurious/temporary...

Re: Feature Requests

The double bells sound plays OK if selected and tested via AIS alarm, just somehow mutilated by the clockwork mechanism ...

Re: bells...

Win7 and Vista here. Both strike just one single or double.

Moreover, on my Vista the double bell sound is mutilated (cut short?) since the bells count change. Other alarm sounds...

Re: Feature Requests

I am seriously missing the traditional way of playing the bells, i.e. increasing the double bells by 1 every hour, up to 4 doubles at 0, 4, 8, 12... etc. The current beta just seems to strike a...

Re: Feature Requests

I think in the GPSGate world friends are called Buddies, and a search for "Buddy" in this forum can reveal some factual info. Whether it is enough or not quite is another matter...

Re: Feature Requests

Thanks, Pavel, all things considered, it looks like hand-editing the WPT link is still less trouble than this... Would be easier for me to write a Python program to read the navobj.xml, but...

Re: Feature Requests

Is there any sample script for the launcher available to handle waypoint (preferably) or boat position data? Could be a place to start, although selecting among a few perspectives would not be as...

Re: Feature Requests

Of course a plugin might do it in a number of ways. I just thought it would be somewhat too heavy solution.

I do not need to refer to "My Boat" location, I rather like to think in terms of...

Integrating Earth Wind and Currents View

I am using the Earth Wind and Currents daily, and I like the clearly readable presentation very much.

For the Coral Sea area I set up a waypoint with 2 links, for wind and sea currents:

earth...

Re: Feature Requests

What you are saying here would sound similar to the CM93offsets mechanism, or something like a built-in Harmonics editor...

I was just thinking of a simple adjustment of the final display. I am...

Re: Feature Requests

The tides predicted are in many cases quite OK, except for the local time zone or daylight saving state.

Perhaps it would be useful to have a user-adjustable selection of the local offset to UTC...

Re: Feature Requests

Probably this is true...

I remember taking off our bell (a heavy item indeed) and taking it to the local broadcasting studios to do the recordings... I was quite busy with the "ringabulina" and...

Re: Feature Requests; long term usage input

Too late... I was working on a similar tool, and I used the resulting 2.5.1318 on almost a circumnavigation. For me it is just right so I stopped there.

You might have a look at...

Re: Feature Requests

As it has been already pointed out, an average for daily hours underway translates by simple arithmetics into a (lower) average speed or - more commonly - an average for number of miles per day.

Re: Feature Requests

Jean,

You might try to have a look at the Portable OpenCPN as described in the User's Manual (section about Installing OpenCPN).

It will give you two completely independent windows, as...

Re: Feature Requests

Just a word on why the layers are made the way they are, i.e. managed completely outside of OpenCPN. Two major reasons for that:

- minimum additional functionality added to OpenCPN (less code,...

Re: Feature Requests

A config entry would do for me, but I did need such feature indeed. I had a faulty fluxgate compass, that I did not want to remove physically from the NMEA network until the diagnosis will be...

Re: Feature Requests

While certainly it would be more elegant to have this built-in, it is possible today with simulated GPS input - just set DR position, course and speed, and watch the chart move... I do it all the...

Re: Feature Requests

As far as I know, no stable release and no official Beta of OpenCPN does display DSC positions.

2.5.1318 (Betas are now 2.6.x) is a custom build that includes a patch prepared a year ago for 2.4.x...

I attach a test result with 2.5.1318.

NB. When copying and pasting from the CF Code extra blanks are inserted into longer lines, careful... (in the above: "S, E*63").

Re: Quick zoom (loupe)

It usually works very nice indeed with a regular mouse or touchpad. On a recent trip I had a touchscreen in the cockpit, which interpreted a prolonged press as a right-click (no way to make a...

Re: Feature Requests

Rik-lu,

There is no mistake. The tide stations you are missing have been removed from xTides set for formal reasons. You can still find the relevant data in separate harmonics sets. These were...
