Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

I can recommend the Furuno SCX20, this is by far the best GPS compass currently on the market: it has 4 GPS compass receivers and it calculates all 6 possible difference vectors, it is uncannily...

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

That is to be expected with a magnetic compass (which your EV1 is). To fix this, your compass needs to be compensated. Most fluxgate compensation algorithms are not 100% able to do this.

I moved...

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

You need a wired ethernet connection and to be sure a lightning strike has the lowest chance of blowing up your computer, the RI-10/11 interface box supplied with the radar.

For radar overlay...

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

That means that one of the conditions for operation is not satisfied. No OpenGL/no heading/no GPS.

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

Are you 100% sure you enabled OpenGL? If so is it using one of those crappy old generation GMA chipsets?

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

Well we do and we don't. The HALO support was added based on some PCAP files sent to us, but we haven't received feedback yet whether it works with the current code base.

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

Check your spoke count, and check it again on wired Ethernet.

You can also try turning up the gain until you have a completely cluttered image. Any spokes missing point to drop outs.

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

Open System Preferences -> Network, select the network card, check that you have an IP address.

Also:
- OpenGL mode not enabled. OpenGL is mandatory for radar.

- Boat position not present.

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

No. These are used for NMEA0183 communication only and have no relationship to any radar.

If communication between the radar and the plugin is possible all the rest is automatic. The only...

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

No you cannot. The radar interface box RI-12 for Halo https://www.simrad-yachting.com/simrad/type/radar/if-box-radar-halo-ri-12/ does NOT do WIFi. None of the Navico wifi devices support the mode...

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

HALO: yes, but with the as of yet unreleased "new & revised" plugin. if you need it quickly, and want to use it with OpenCPN 4.8.x then Douwe can supply you a version that will work for you.

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

I personally think the documentation page is getting very long and is trying to cover a lot of subjects... I personally prefer the style we use on Github, with one page per subject.

But hey, I...

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

The plugin calculates it completely autonomously.

GPS location + time for own boat position.
Heading for own boat heading so it knows how to rotate the radar image relative to the boat.

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

We don't know how to do this.

It is very hard to reverse engineer this as there aren't that many software updates. In fact the last firmware for the 4G is from 2012. Even if you did would you be...

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

Rick, thanks. Can you update the requirements? Plugin 3.0 requires OpenCPN 4.8, or even better, our own version with 2 patches. See the github pages for details.

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

Correct. Happy to accept pull requests, but I don't see what you would use the EBL at a fixed heading for. You could always abuse an arc-type guard zone where you do enter a relative heading.

Once...
