Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
https://fortmyers.craigslist.org/lee/boa/d/kemah-1998-gemini-105m/7335743051.html Have seen these only priced this low in Mexico. Horrible boats but a good deal for someone that’s inclined. |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
That’s a Perry 43 that I was familiar with earlier last year. Know at least one prop is missing and is located at a marina that has a problem with consistent rates and revolving rings of theft. |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
The SR 37 sold to an Australian in 2019 and did do a trip from the panhandle to the Bahamas and apparently back. He’d planned to sail back to Australia with a fairly large crew. Must be back at Stu’s... |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
That's one heck of an Erectors set! Can only guess it's a disaster and he just made Hawaii and would never sail it offshore again? Funny as I'm just making tentative plans to sail to Hawaii in... |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
Not sure of the millions of safe Prout miles. I can see possibly many thousands and 100s of thousands. How many Prouts have actually circumnavigated? Have any been lost? One was between the DR and... |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
I think that 45' Horstman could be the reason I've made it 200+ pages in. Nada photos so far. |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
Apparently Cav is sensitive about the hammers. A hard plastic or hard rubber mallet is what you want and a small pen knife. If the boats for sale you really should have an arrangement in principal... |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
There is a 1972 Piver 60! At the yard here in Panama. Has had some termite issues and galvanised nails bleeding thru, but many years in the tropics. That old for ply was super tuff no reason a '69... |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
As far as I know, they are ply and maybe polyester. That was some really nice ply, but likely a powder glue was used on the stringers and these old boats can get very brittle and joints fail... |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
Just a quick glance at that pic and I can maybe guess why it sank. I mean, we need a few good mono guys to jump in here. Would never buy a multihull that could sink. |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
Seems to have a rather low bridgedeck clearance for 48’. Perhaps the reasoning for attempting to lighten the interior? |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
Would be good to cross post on the thread about the guy asking about plywood cats a few weeks back. They certainly can last! Plenty of sound glass monos being chopped up everyday. |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
Maybe they're hoping to go cruising on the motor sailor underneath and need to "unload" those hulls first. |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
I have raced against one and cruised alongside another. Slower than my 34' cat with fixed keels by a good measure. Not sure why you'd give up all that bridgedeck accommodations with daggerboards, etc... |

You'd actually be surprised how slow a main cat is compared to other performance cruising cats |

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
The boat was heavily damage in Katrina. Repairs were not done satisfactorily to prevent additional leakage and rot. Katrina was 12 years ago! That's about the extent of any details I want to... |
