On CM93 2008 (but not 2009), I can see very faint lines, almost same color as the green background, but a shade lighter, that correlate with SHOM lines. Here is a sample, but they may not be...

I get faint magenta lines using the CM93 1999 and 2004 issues, but (almost) none with the 2008 and 2009 versions. These lines outline rocky patches, as can be seen on the SHOM (French hydro service)...

Got it back

Vista Home, French locale: 1216 opens with CM93 without a hitch now, after turning decimal comma to decimal point and number grouping symbol from blank to comma
Glad to be rid of that black screen....
