I'm about to apply to export my yacht from US, I understand a customs agent is the way to go to get "Export Declaration Document", costing around $50-$100. Anybody have first hand experience of this?

I've got no intention to gloat but just 3 short weeks ago I transfered $180,000 via Ozforex @ $1.06 to purchase my C42 + enough to buy goodies( equip) + my cruising kitty for the trip home......phew,...

I would say you may well be right about wiring up the boat yourself but it's my understanding that....marinas certainly ask for compliance certs for gas & electrical ( 240v) installations on your...

In regard to importing to Australia there are various compliances to meet i.e. LPG system and most importantly for me the electrical system which on US imported boats are generally 110-115volt...

Quite true, in my case I took my Fremantle home port boat up to Southern Ireland....52 degrees N, compass was hardly readable it was dipped over so much!

My new boat is from CA at approx 34...

My understanding is that you are quite correct! Australian Customs will charge GST + any duty on the so called delivery to Australia. I believe if you do it sensibly and keep all receipts they will...
