I got corrected: The second WPT is at dec, not at alt! Alt is what will get compared to dist to obtain our towards or away. barnakiel |

Did you really expect a free lunch? BTW I have an even worse piece of news for all our plotter potatoes: one does not need a sextant to get the altitude. I am truly sorry. ;-) b. |

This is not what I have seen on our route. We met plenty of sailors and I noticed they were either very proficient with everything (sextant or gps or diesel engines) or else they were pretty ignorant... |

And the time does not have to be all that accurate. We use a plain Casio that I set exact on departure, then update from gps signal once a week. I know how much ahead or late it gets per week then. ... |
