Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

Don't bother with the Simrad compass. The Airmar one is far better. Read about it here: Panbo: The Marine Electronics Hub: Airmar H2183 compass, best in class?...

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

It's really not hard to hook up a simple NMEA2000 network. The advantages over a single-box solution are very many. You can mix and match components, choosing the best value or performance you...

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

Their support is wildly variable in my experience.

I've had complete idiots, and had really superb people. Luck of the draw.

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

Choose "Navionics".

I'm pretty sure that's just a menu glitch. Inherited from when Navionics was the only full detailed chart. The menu should say "Choose Chart Card" and "Choose Built-In...

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

Like everything any of us writes, it's JMHO. Obviously there are a great variety of opinions, and ways of working with charts.

But the OP here plans with paper charts, for the EXACT same reasons...

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

Paper is supreme for planning, and I still use it. I have several hundred paper charts on board, stored under all the mattresses.

But a large high resolution screen with raster charts and...

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

Indeed, and A64 needs the Bahamas.

I don't know what kind of charts A64 uses for planning. Maybe he uses paper, like I did until recently.

For planning, I have switched to electronic raster...

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

Here's what you want, based on ColeMJ's recommendation:

https://www.thegpsstore.com/C-MAP-4D-Full-NA-D022-East-Coast-and-Bahamas-P3147.aspx

That has the functions of Navionics Platinum (photos,...

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

My old Raymarine plotter (which I loved, by the way -- it was much less buggy than the Zeus) used C-Map and only C-Map. It was an RL80CRC+ and cost a fortune in its day.

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

You'll have to do some shopping. Here is a guide to compatible cartography:

Cartography (https://www.bandg.com/en-US/Product-Groups/Cartography/)

There's a pretty wide choice, and it looks like...

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

Well, they advertise "North American cartography included!"for all of them. Which is bullocks and false advertising. The Navionics Silver charts which are embedded are unsuitable for navigation. ...

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

OK, easily remedied.

Step 1, acquire some cartography. I have used Navionics Gold as well as Navionics Platinum. The Platinum doesn't have anything which for me personally is worth the...

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

One of the nice things about the Zeus is that you have a choice of cartography. If you don't like the (usually standard) Navionics cartography, you can use C-Map. Or various other chart packages.

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

No, I don't have a Touch 2. I have the very first Zeus Touch ever imported into the U.S. I'm an "early adopter" :) And at the nav table, a Zeus non-touch with all the lovely buttons.

Don't...

Re: Difference between B&G Zeus Touch and Zeus2?

Try Menu>Menu>Chart>Course Highway [check the box]

That will give you a red line with little arrows, in a shaded corridor, from you to the waypoint.

Note that if you wander off this line and...
