Story, I missed the pertinent point with my post. While we have N2K gear, the data steam to EDO is from a N2K-0183 converter wifi bridge. It too is relatively new, and I do not think it is using...

What I said was that I considered them defunct for all practical purposes.

My opinion is based on them releasing v1 a year ago with no updates since. Meanwhile several of us have experienced...

Well I certainly don't agree we should blindly give money to anyone calling themselves a small business and then take whatever we are given and shut up about it.

EDO is stable on my iPad, but it does not handle the data steam from our Vesper wifi bridge very well. Many of the common data don't show up (depth, for example). I put in a bug report ages ago and...

It is a tablet app, so I think that using it up close is part of that definition. It isn't any more difficult to see than your Tritons or 8" Zeus at a distance.

Constantly needing to reconnect it...

I have this app on my iPad. I found a bug, told the developer, he asked for a NMEA trace, I gave it to him, he said he found the bug and it will be fixed in the next release.
