I think many people know how to paint, but far less know how to replace Gelcoat. I knew it could be done prior to this thread as I've seen repairs of course, but I did't' know a whole deck was... |

I'm no fan of paint on fiberglass, it just ain't right :), but many single stage paints can be wet sanded and buffed, just haven't seen a coat of paint as thick as Gelcoat. |

Gelcoat is the first layer that goes into the mold when the hull is manufactured, gelcoat can apparently be applied later, but I think it's very difficult and requires an expert, but I've never done... |

Dont confuse paint with gelcoat though, even gel coat will eventually be worn through, but that may take a very long time, or not. Depending on if it's been sanded, how man times and how thick it was... |
