Sounds like you have serpentine belts rather than V belts. This is indeed an answer to my problem which involves just the standard V type fan alternator. The conversion is expensive.

What belt have you found? I use the Gates toothed belt. In these forums I have seen recommended the Gates green stripe belt but it only comes in VX series which is a B section. The 3ym30 I have is...
