I thought there might have been something on Spot that did the work for you (because math is hard) - in any event, I calculated that between 1:43 and 2:12 he had traveled 2.724km - or 1.6926 miles...

How can you tell he is moving at 3kts? I've looked at the Spot tracking and I do not see that information. Are you calculating it using the long/lat and time of the position v. the long/lat and...
