Re: Armageddon anchor

^^ Its a steel Alan Payne Koonya. I especially like the narrow row of panels over the cockpit with roll out waterproof sides panels. Much lower windage than a targa bar, both at anchor and at sea....

Re: Armageddon anchor

^^ hard to say Uncivil, once I definitely had to much sail up, just a storm jib. She was climbing up her bow wave! She had big leecloths around the cockpit and a windgen aft.I think the problem is...

Re: Armageddon anchor

Johns BFS and three or four anchors spread out from there is probably ideal. Likely only one will be on all chain so the others need to be heavily weighted to sink quickly so they can't foul the keel...

Re: Armageddon anchor

^^ Yes all that stuff on the stern is a bit of a problem, though the furler and mast fwd is still going to be dominant, goven its height and the typical wind gradient. You should have space on your...

Re: Armageddon anchor

Re: Armageddon anchor

Re: Armageddon anchor

Just for a datum my 27kg manson supreme would have less surface area than my fortress fx23. In an amageddion storm both would be out, on two separate rodes, the 45 deg angle on the fx23 would be...

Re: Armageddon anchor

:D:D Ha, dont think he will have much luck dragging the fx 11. Maybe my toy 15lb plow will be a fair match for his stubbornness.

Re: Armageddon anchor

This is my father with their fx55 for their 45 foot gaff ketch (45000lbs) and my son with his fx11. The fx55 is a big anchor, yet it is still easily lifted. A family of anchorholics!

Re: Armageddon anchor

Id just get a fx55 or fx37 that I could use as a kedge as well, and a large next gen main anchor. In a good bottom either alone will probably hold through most stuff just fine. And set together in a...
