Hi-

Looking at the Eartech headsets for docking, and I’m wondering if anyone has discovered an equivalent aftermarket battery (that isn’t $21) I’d like to have a few spares on the charger.

Re: Getting rid of the funk - oxidation removal.

320 sounds awfully aggressive. The heaviest i go, ever, is 800 and even then do it wet. I follow up with Presta Super Cut compound, then Presta Ultra Cutting Creme.

Re: Things the internet's ruined

Take a look a Brave Browser and use Duck Duck Go as the default search engine. After starting that and incorporating a VPN, I stopped getting targeted ads based on what I browsed earlier in the day....

And they worked for the knowledge and had an adventure in the process. That's a much fonder memory and a much more interesting story than, "I Googled it."

I always remind my kids, if you get something for 'free' (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube), then YOU are the product.

Re: TOHATSU 9.8 won’t start

Here in California, the fuel gums up enough in a few weeks to clog the main jet on almost any small carb. Definitely run stabilizer in the tank and run the carb dry if it’s a remote tank.

Re: What's the deal with Marina's in Monterey Bay, CA?

Sad thing they did there, chasing out Svendsen's and all the other places. Have no idea where all the dry storage boats must've gone...

The upside of that is it's super easy to heat up Hot Pockets next to the radome...

I too wonder what was in the ammo cans. Overall, didn't look like a 'bad' boat, per se.

Re: Pillar Point Harbor Half Moon Bay

Regarding Santa Cruz, I can't imagine coming in on a 40' cat in anything less than perfect conditions. Any swell has the surfers lining up in the harbor entrance...

Re: Tohatsu 9.8 four stroke starting problems

Larry-

If you bought the motor in California, any fuel in the carb turned to goo, and you'd need to disassemble and clean. I'd give each cylinder a shot of WD-40, pop in the plugs, and give it a...

Re: Big Storm, Small Lake, Big Trouble

Not too shallow... When I was selling Hobies in the late 80’s in the SF Bay Area, we’d order a couple masts a year for folks who stuck the tips in the mud and snapped them off. Hobie masts were...

Re: Is ASA changing safety terms for political correctness worth discussing?

I think the context is that Bob the stinkpotter might not give a rat's ass that you call him that, and might actually embrace it, but someone else down the dock decides it's their duty to defend Bob...

Re: Thoughts on Amazon Fenders

I bought the 8.8” x 26.8” Polyform G5 fenders on Amazon about a year ago and they’re holding up beautifully. At $51 they’re about $4/each more than I paid, but shipping is still free.

Re: little boat BIG PROBLEM

Does the hull have a drain plug somewhere on the transom? That's a likely culprit, since most of the flanges are installed with 2 screws and a gob of silicone. The plug itself could have an O-ring...

Re: Do you need a 800W cheap wood router?

Re: Feedback on my Packing List

DeOxit is magic for wonky electrical connections, and spare USB-Lightning (Apple) or USB-Mini cables. Pack them so they don’t oxidize. Lightning cables die on salt air at an alarming rate.

You mentioned POR-15 had been recommended. Do you know if it was the 2-part urethane, or their rust coat? Product looks solid, and I was looking at both on Amazon.

It seems like the...
