I have seen those before as well. The tube is basically a capacitor, and the capacity changes with the amount of dielectric medium, in this case fuel or oil. No moving parts, so not much can go wrong...

Well, there's nothing wrong with having a sextant and a propeller log on board. 'Waratah' will have them on board for sure. She is almost finished now. Can't wait to do the sea trials.

During two stays in Phuket this year, I sailed both on a 343 and on a 393. Found them very well thought out, comfortable, and easy to handle boats. I did not notice anything like a 'springy' deck.
