Re: Is anyone familiar with the Bayfield?

I have experience off shore with friends too and from the Bahamas several times. The boat sailed well. You could FB Sandra Tingley in Canada as she owned one. One of my picks for a small cruiser. ...

Re: 1974 23' coronado

I had a 23 for 10 years in SF, Cal and Lake Tahoe. Since it was my first sailboat, I learned with it. Designed by Bill Crealock, it is a great boat.. Had a Hans Christian, Island Packet and lived...

I have used Capn since 1997 and found it better then a chart plotter due to screen size.

ABS brakes don't work in all conditions. The tendency to have automatic stuff instead of developing basic...

Re: Is anyone familiar with the Bayfield?

Look at the Pardy's Web site. He shows how to make a release lever for a staysail shroud. When a tight space is been tacked in remove the shroud and sails a sloop.

Re: Chain Versus Rope Scope ?

Bash is right, it's how you sleep. If boating becomes so stressful that you are uncomfortable, why do it? Solve the problem--put out 2 anchors, one of each.

Re: best boat under 80k cruising keys, bahamas, carribean.

Steven,
Go in the boat you have. Make a nest for your daughter and don't woory about it. My wife and I spent 60 days camping in Europe on bicycles with our 13 year old son towing our 6 year old...

Re: Boat Name Poll--2 choices

We named our boat Moon Snail. Many said it was stupid. It was easy to say and we had fun with it. Short and your own. Chakana it is.

Re: Hello ! From a Young Sailor with no experience

This is not a smart alec comment. You can't be a sailor until you sail. Go to San Pedro or Alamitos Bay and hang out on the weekends and get a trip to Catalina and back on a sailboat. If you can...

We sailed from New Bern to Annoplois and found it to be a great trip. Also sailed up to DC and stayed there for 10 days. The whole thing wasn't expensive. Went to the Big boat show and found it to...

Re: Can someone help?

I notice that you are in Deltaville. We stayed a month in the Fishing Bay Marina and found the folks there to be honest and friendly. I would start here. Be honest and up-front about your problem....

Re: Where to keep my sailboat in Florida?

I have kept a boat at Green Cove Springs or Gibson Dry Dock for 15 years. Gibson is the best but you have to clear a 45' bridge to get there. Couldn't be a more pleasant place. About $100 per...

Re: Is anyone familiar with the Bayfield?

The Bayfield is the boat for you! Good choice. It is easy to sail and if you do some reasearch you will find people go all over in them. The bigger boats are harder to handle in a pinch. I had a...

Re: Sailors Don't Know How to Set Sails ?

I didn't start the thread, just a reply. I will say, the bigger the boat the more difficult it becomes. Geared wheel steering dosen't help.

Re: Sailors Don't Know How to Set Sails ?

If you learn to sail on a sailboard (Windsurfer) and get to the point that you sail well in 10-15K winds you will really understand what your sails do. On this sailing craft you are the mainsheet. ...

Isn't this fun? Nobody agrees with anybody! Sounds like Religon and Politics.

The fact is that even tho we're all doing it wrong, we all seem to have few problems with what we're doing.

Re: Getting Chain into the Bilge
