Re: Using IP Camera with Raymarine Axium

I don't experience much lag, but there are intermittend (say each 3 sec) very short (< 0.3 sec) freezes. For me this is no issue but I wouldn't recommend this setup for serious navigation and docking.

Re: RM Autopilot in following sea

Yes I do and with no problems. My AP setup is RM EVO (p70 - EV1 - ACU200 - Type1 drive), connected to a rudder sensor and an i60 wind instrument (and other stuff, but that’s not relevant now).
It...

Re: raymarine mfd networking question

I can confirm what Hartleyg writes. If the datamaster is not powered up, the slave MFD will sound an alert. But the datamaster selection box is shown also, so you can assign it with one tip of your...

Re: Raymarine Type 2 Drive question

The higher displacement spec has nothing to do with the drive itself. The long and short drives are identical, except for the shaft length. The difference is the specified tiller arm for the long...

Re: Using IP Camera with Raymarine Axium

Sorry, out of stock / not available anymore. These cheap cameras seem to have a very limited commercial life span, so any link will soon be dead anyway. You either have to try and test yourself with...

Re: I needeed a good digital fridge thermostat.

The sensor wires should not get hot at all, the current should be negligible. So either someone made a serious installation mistake, or the device itself is toast. Wires that heat up are usually a...

Re: Using IP Camera with Raymarine Axium

Success! My mastcam (https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f13/project-movable-masthead-camera-266101.html#post3645673) did work on my Raymarine e7 MFD, but didn't show up on an Axiom. Until now,...

Re: Solo mast climbing system

Yes I bought and use this ladder. Is is very well made and had no issues with delivery. To be sure I had the right size I bought the sliders myself at my sailmakers loft. I've climbed my mast solo...

Re: Attaching a Linear Drive autopilot in a Hunter Legend

No wonder, boats of these sizes are well outside the EVO100 performance pocket. So a good decision to install an underdeck AP. The difference in use is quite spectaculair I experienced.

Re: Cooper Coat on an Alu hull - yes or NO ?

Coppercoat works great on my GRP boat. But on an aluminium hull, I would stay away even from the slightest chance of negative impact on the hull.

What is the reason they think production organizers won’t work on your boat?

Re: Yet another Colregs query

If there was no watch on neither bridge VHF is clearly useless. AIS and/or radar could help IF alarms were set. Apparently not.
If I was being approached on my stern at high speed, VHF would be the...

Re: Project: movable masthead camera

I’m sorry, I can’t advice for this used case. In my sailing area there are no coral heads so no experience with these. A webcam on the pullpit seems very vulnerable to salty spray and mechanical...

Re: Who is using an electric blanket?

We have a ‘mattrass pad’ on board also. It is a 230V model (the blanked itself is low voltage DC of course), so can be used when we are hooked to shorepower only. But what a treat on a cold night....

Re: Using IP Camera with Raymarine Axium

This is good news! My 3rd party IP mast cam works fine on my Raymarine e7 MFD, but I couldn’t get it working on an Axiom. As stated before, Raymarine just said ‘the software of the Axiom is...

Re: Adding alarm to bilge pump circuit

Any alarm is better than non. The downside of the water alarms suggested however is that they are battery operated. They require regular testing and change of batteries. This can be a hassle with...

Re: Adding alarm to bilge pump circuit

A bilge pump alarm is essential. When you know early there is water in your boat, you have the most chance you can find the leak and stop the water inflow. If the water is already slushing through...

Re: Fun one question survey - VHF, port reference

In Europe SY or S/Y is far more widely used I guess, in writing as well as in speech. The word 'yacht' has no particular elite meaning over here. We Dutch rarely use the word 'vessel' as it refers...

Re: What is this thing? (Electrical)

Exactely that. Those 1-2- both switches are a relic of the past. They usually lead to far more trouble than they do good. And with modern ArgoFET's (or with smart switches like the Vicron Cyrix)...

Re: Does Fusion RA70N have non-volatile memory?

Hmm, thanks for the warning.
Since you have (or had?) a RA70N, could you enlighten me if it remembers it's FM station presets after powering down?

Does Fusion RA70N have non-volatile memory?

On my boat I currently use a regular car stereo. It did a good job exept for one thing: everytime I leave the boat and switch off all power, it forgets every radio preset I made. That is not so...
