Great work to release.

Re: Retractable outboards

So is that pro rata per annum, best thing is your sails hold up really well, prolly get 118,000 miles/25 years out of the sails & only need to replace the covers a couple of times.
I've got a 23...

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

True, sub 26' & pretty cheap on Gtree or the ebuy, once you get to 28 like say a compass/swanson & jacks up quite a bit. Every month or so an older ior or similar around 30-36 will come up for 5-30k....

Re: Trailor sailer as a camper? The Boaterhome

Very slick bit of gear that & probably worth every cent but expensive(to me) with the range starting at around 113k Australian pretty ok if you're a cashed up superanuant looking to enjoy their time...

Re: Trailor sailer as a camper? The Boaterhome

Re: Death by Dinghy : Risks and Best Practices

I know of another Aus loss after Harry D, a prominent Aus yachtbuilder lost his life returning to own yacht, seems he'd passed his oars up onto deck but didn't make it himself.

I came close to...

Re: Fast, Comfortable and Cheap.

Cheap is a matter of perspective. The city I live in is expensive... like one Million or so for a fibro(asbestos sheet) house in a river front suburb, the streets & house around the waters edge ramp...

Re: 16.4m Millkraft - any experience or opinions please

Very nice boat from a pro builder with a great reputation.

The 2.7M draft would break it for me(but I'm mostly from the dark side of multies).

No need for concern on the construction medium so...

Re: Dumping empty fuel barrels in the ocean

As it turns out Australian:flowers: steel recovery rates are between 65-90+%:smitten: depending on product. Most of mine ends up as rubbish, the cans get repurposed with the label taken off & used in...

Re: Dumping empty fuel barrels in the ocean

At first I thought maybe they were going shark or devil ray fishing...

But surely all steel drums must make their way to the Caribbean......

Re: Fast, Comfortable and Cheap.

Well let's, seems like a day for it.
Looks like an area that family & friends might gather for a meal, I'm usually quite comfortable in those circumstances & those park benches come with cushions....

Re: Fast, Comfortable and Cheap.

The comfiest boats usually use household style/size items like full size standard mattresses & lounges etc. 50 foot cats usually can accommodate these furnishings with ease and a little thought. one...

Again, great post from Roy!

Re: Steam bending

We steam for about an hour per inch of thickness, a bit longer as thickness increases. Springback is always going to happen, on planking we often use the "job" to act as the form just as you have but...

Re: Just received first insurance quote. Wow!

The quote sounds pretty high, the sum insured is only one indicator & really only relates to major/total loss. I used to pay about 1100 to 1300 PA for a 130K cruising cat, now pay about 70 per month...
