Re: Dream Yacht suspending Guaranteed Charter Income payments

Yep like I said thats the MO and until lately there has always been another fool to come along.

I wouldn't be so certain the title is even with this owner yet anyway. More likely title is due to...

Re: Visibility from Catamaran

No Its not just you.

One of the advantages of dual helms at either the stern like catanas or the bulkhead like seawinds is you can always choose a helm with good visibility and weather...

Re: Fountaine Pajot to build hydrogen powered yachts

The most eco friendly boat is one that is already built.

The second most eco friendly boat is a new build that sails well and doesn't need the auxiliary except for some maneuvering.

This...

Re: I want to buy a cruising catamaran in charter already

I would say this plan is very workable. Just get in touch with the operators and see what's available where you want to be based. It should work based on the depreciation schedules the current owners...

Re: Dream Yacht suspending Guaranteed Charter Income payments

Pretty unconscionable behaviour but it fits with their MO from better times. They market on emotion to people unwilling or unable to look at the risk in the fine print.

If you ask the right...

Re: Charter yacht collided with me, seeking advice.

I have seen similar thing happen twice now with the same result you have had. Too late for you sadly but let this be a warning to others on here at least.

So called professional charter captains...

Re: Dream Yacht suspending Guaranteed Charter Income payments

Exactly right. DY has a mix of prepaid holiday owners and boat owners with management contracts. The latter have title, the former are just normal creditors and in a default would get nothing after...

Re: Leopard 39 sailing performance?

I would be VERY surprised if my comments were the only negative ones on L39 performance on the whole internet. You must not have looked very hard.

It appears you are well and truely into the...

Re: Leopard 39 sailing performance?

We looked closely at these when they were new as the admiral did indeed like the layout. At the time they probably had the best livability of the sub 40 foot cats. But as you know that always comes...

Re: Cat Co guaranteeing income

True but you don't need to be a financial engineer to know that it's you that is paying for the escrow account and the guaranteed income for the first 2 years.

Built into the sale price and and...

Re: Owners of a Catana - The two helms exposed and your experience

You don't need a dodger like you do on a mono because the 2 helms are so far apart. Ie for weather the leeward helm effectively has a dodged as big as the saloon bulkhead.

One helm will always be...

Re: Owners of a Catana - The two helms exposed and your experience

Yeah I used to think that too and looked closely at the O49 but think it actually isnt as good as you think it will be.

Tillers get tiring after a short while compared to a wheel so talking to...

Re: Owners of a Catana - The two helms exposed and your experience

This question comes up every now and again on here and all the pros and cons have been done before.

Like all things dual aft helms are a compromise and in cat land there are plenty of naysayers...

Re: Dream Yacht suspending Guaranteed Charter Income payments

This is why those thinking things go back to normal for DYC in a few months are dreaming. I reckon they had plans to ride out a 6 month business interruption but that is now likely to be 2 years. If...

Re: Dream Yacht suspending Guaranteed Charter Income payments

In alot of countries it would amount to trading while insolvent and directors could expect a jail term. International multi jurisdiction businesses like this can tend to slip through the cracks...

I would normally agree with you having been a creditor a few times too but not in this case. For a variety of reasons this appears to be a particularly slow moving train wreck. Those that act...

Re: Are Catanas good??

The most important thing hasnt been mentioned yet - they are FUN to sail.

You aren't driving a bus you are connected to a sailing machine. Yes you spend 80% of time at anchor but the most vivid...

short answer is because thats the way they are cut. yes you can trim them flatter but after fooling around for long enough you realize that the higher more rounded shape is the ideal one for power.

Re: Dream Yacht suspending Guaranteed Charter Income payments

The questioner hasnt been seen since so perhaps doesnt like the answers. After all buying a boat is mainly an emotional decision as we all know.

Re: Dream Yacht suspending Guaranteed Charter Income payments

The dream partner program - they have a few different kinds. Is that the one where they own the boat and you effectively prepay 5 and a half years of holidays then buy the boat at 50% of the "new"...

Re: Jeanneau and Beneteau

One of the key implications of the assembly line approach of the bennys, jennys etc is the use of the internal moulded lining glued to the hull. A second internal hull if you like.

Its a pretty...
