Stick with your shaft...the list of problems with saildrives is far greater...Ive converted my boat to a shaft after having a series of saildrives..

Just remove the entire pump and replace it---in the end it will be both much easier and cheaper because it is no just a matter of replacing the seals...the shaft will be damaged for sure---simple job...

The solution to your problem is Thompson Couplings made in Australia. Study their website. I have used their coupling For many years with great success. Excellent design

Depends entirely on the "synthetic' fiber and any cover material chosen. If you use all carbon rigging and take care of it, it should last "forever".
