Re: Steer me away from a steel hull?

I am just here to show solidarity with my steel boated brothers and sisters.

Mine is a steel 27' or so double-ender made in Holland.

They say steel boats rust from the inside out? I can inspect...

Re: Chain versus rope scope?

Dockhead,

Was I wrong in my previous post? I still have to think at least 50% of the weight of the chain will be putting downward pressure on the anchor in the case that the chain is pulled tight....

Re: Chain versus rope scope?

The chain still has it's inherent mass which would still add downward force to the anchor, even when bar tight. Sure, not 100% of it's mass, but a large enough fraction to have a positive affect on...

Re: New sailor on the Bay Of Quinte

Hi, thanks

New sailor on the Bay Of Quinte

Hello

New sailor here. The Bay of Quinte will be my cruising area.

I bought a boat last fall, just waiting for the spring to put her in.

Lots to learn!

Re: Steel Boats and Welding

The people I bought her from were originally from Holland. They went over, bought her and had her shipped over.

I tell you for me it was love at first sight! I just wish there was more info in...

Re: Hello From Enkhuizen, the Netherlands

Welcome,

You seem to be a short sail from my boat's home town!

Re: Are Double-Enders the Sexiest Monohull Design ?

Actually, if you are to use that type of analogy, a double-ender is more like a thong, whereas a transom stern is more like bloomers...

Re: Are Double-Enders the Sexiest Monohull Design ?

There are only two types of people in this world. Those who have double-enders, and those who wish they did.
