Re: Cheap good marina Bimini

Browns. As previous stated they are all close to the same. There's only two marinas in the berries. Great harbor and chub. Stop at great harbor first and work your way around the east side down the...

Re: Inverter Wiring question - multiplus II 2x120, air cons

A couple of thoughts based on the reality to include with the spreadsheet math. We run a Quattro 5k/200a but same applies to the multi, we just have the inverter wired into ac2 that isn't present on...

Re: Park it in the Bahamas.

Staniel has the best flights and a mooring field right in front of SCYC, I would just ask around, appeared to be a half dozen or so working jobs around the marina. If you are down in Georgetown,...

Re: Anyone Modify a Leopard 44 or 48 for Kids?

In this pic the dinghy is really high. This is not our table, a friends, but the dinghy would fit below as well and effectively close the back off. There are lifelines back there. We have 4...

Re: What dog breed if any???

If you are going to multiple countries the answer is no. If you are staying in one or two and can research the rules and regs its a judgement call. One other difficulty not mentioned in previous...

Re: country flags do you need them?

In the Bahamas last year the authorities picked just 3 boats out of 50 in a large anchorage to visit, discuss documentation and generally increase the water content of their cocktails they were...

Re: When did manufacturers get so exclusive at boat shows?

I just got back a few minutes ago. I was able to see all the boats I wanted to and yes, I did make reservations. I agree they were more a lot more selective this year than in previous shows I have...

Re: My Rocna didn't hold in mud - a first. Confession from a cocky new gen anchor ow

Appreciate the truthfulness, it should be more widespread when it comes to ground tackle commentary. We live aboard and have a Rocna 88, great anchor and helps me sleep at night. Yes, it has...

Re: Electric galley without genset

I would not suggest it without some fossil fuel power source. There are a lot of days the sun doesn't shine (enough) and it is really obvious when you are reliant on solar for cooking and can cause...

Re: 7 "Rescued" from Sportfisher off Mid-Atlantic Coast

So rather than pile on the obvious, and who knows, they may have left out a medical emergency, but here is a positive note... I stopped this morning and gave my wife a kiss for being awesome after I...

Re: Buying Leopard Ex-charter: What do I spend my $ on first?

Best bang for the buck is easy but often overlooked. Get new toilet seats. Ones that are clean and don't slam when closed. Seems minor but by far the best roi on our refit of our L48.
I assume you...

Re: Shore Power Upgrade - 30 to 50 Amp

Ok, so you are stating when we hook up twin 30a 120v we are actually plugged into 240v and just using a single leg per 30? This is where I think I have the mental disconnect bc I don't have 50/240...

Re: Shore Power Upgrade - 30 to 50 Amp

I'm interested in this thread and had a question and an observation. The observation may not apply directly given it sounds like the live aboard marina may be a semi permanent home for the vessel....

Re: Another Induction Cooktop Thread

You didn't mention which one and other factors that delivered a bad experience. I had a bad experience sailing on a leaky teaky in a square chop in squalls 20 yrs ago but I have found better sailing...

Re: How to find Leopard Catamarans in the NADA

The equivalent in the marine industry is the BUC Value for the vessel. Most brokers, loan originators and insurance companies use it as at least one of their data points in valuation. Agree with...

Re: Steel beams in the Leopards

We have a leopard 48. There is a steel beam. There is light (have to look closely) corrosion on it. The steel is very thick so I have not even bothered to wire brush it given that by triage...

Re: Help decide older Leopard 46 or newish leopard48?

Load capacity is really important. When I stated from my experience the 46 is faster it may be attributed to how many people are on board and how much gear they have. A leopard 48 has more load...

Re: Is running my water maker going to kill my batteries

Repeating what Noelex77 asked. 14a @ 110v AC or DC? It doesn't make much water if it's 14a DC. If its AC that is inline with many water maker pumps. Your 70a generator is rated in DC, unless...

Re: April 2021 in Exumas; recommendations?

We're all stuck down here somewhere... In George Town but am thinking about braving the sound Saturday and moving over to cat to change the horizon from which I watch the wind whip.

Re: Help decide older Leopard 46 or newish leopard48?

The 46 is a better sailing boat. It points a few degrees higher and is maybe a half knot quicker on most points of sail except optimal angles in high winds. The 48 will outrun the 46 in winds above...

Re: Solo sailor rescued thanks to PLB

Great news that someone survived this type of mishap with good planning. I do think one minor item highlighted by this story is the fact he was drowning in his harness. I am in no way knowledgeable...

Re: Largest cruiser that can go on a trailer at a boat ramp?

I think this is an easy one if one is to pull to a ramp and deploy without special tongue extension etc. Those are fine and I have been part of a boat ramp special but I am just speaking to designed...
