Re: convert water tank to fuel tank?

Aluminum water tanks develop a strange gel on the sides. If you can get access to the inside to clean it, I don’t see why you couldn’t convert it to fuel. Of course when you see the crap inside you...

Re: The 2021 -2024 and Continuing Joke Threads

I actually did this when I was about 13 or 14 years old. The catamaran was the Tropic Rover that appeared in the movie Thunderball. I don’t think anybody on the catamaran knew I had done it.

Re: Frozen thru hull fitting

Actually gate valves were once pretty common on thru-hulls. The problem was that most of them available in the market had brass stems that would eventually break. The body of the valve might be...

Re: Broke My Spartan Seacock

The size of the seacock is the size of the thru-hull it will screw onto and the ID of the hose that will push onto the seacock. To install a 1” Seacock you’ll need a 1” thru-hull and 1” ID hose.

Re: Water System Problems

The two most common problems I’ve seen on water system pumps are bad switches and bad valves. Pick a good pump and buy two of them. Buy a spare switch and valve set. Install the new pump in a way...

Re: Sea strainer over engineering?

The forward movement of the boat washes over the flat screen and removes weed that might otherwise be stuck to it. Anything that does get stuck to it would fall off when the engine or pump stops. I...

Re: Jabsco Self Priming Waste Pump

Both diaphragm pumps and impeller pumps are self priming. Running dry won’t hurt the diaphragm pump but will damage an impeller after a short time. Do what Peggy suggests.

Re: Is a Cordless Power Washer too good to be true?
