Re: Good place for sailing in NJ.

I will add another vote for the Raritan Yacht Club (Home - Raritan Yacht Club (https://www.ryc.org) ) in Perth Amboy. Easy access from NJ Turnpike/I-287. Keyport is an additional 15 minutes and...

Re: Gaskets instead of silicone?

With minimal suppliers available, I would seek out a source for an old tire inner tube (probably free in a tire or bike shop dumpster) bust out a utility knife, carefully blue goo to one of the...

Re: Best Foul Weather Gear for the money

Keep your feet dry.
My money is on Dubarrys.
A bit pricey; but well worth the money.
Their commitment to their product and customer service/satisfaction is OUTSTANDING.

Re: Learning to sail with a potential of chosing anywhere.

The individual "instructor" is at least as important as where to go.
Wherever you go, try to speak, at least by phone, to the instructor and see if there is a good style /personality fit and...

Re: Sealing the reefer door/lid

NAPA auto parts has a very good selection of weatherstripping profiles. You may need to ask to look in the catalog.
After you are done, get a neoprene mat sold (Homeworks, Bed Bath, etc.)as foot...

Re: getting rid of hard sediment in a black water tank.

Try loading it up with ice cubes and let them slosh around either by boat action or, if already out of the boat, strap it in a pickup truck and take it for a bumpy ride.
If not too thick, you might...

Re: Yanmar Tach help needed

Did the combination of tach and pick-up ever work correctly?
If so, what has changed?
First, check connections and grounds.
If you have a Nippon Seiki tach, it should be marked on the front...

There will come a time when you can't get the boat out when you planned. (Weather, broken trailer, sick dog ...)
Another week goes by and when you get it out, you will spend a...
