Re: Yellow Flame on Propane Force 10

Re: Rigid PVC or Flex for Head Plumbing

I agree that 1 1/2" (40mm in Aust) is the way to go but I would recommend you buy pipe and fittings from the plumbing store. It is easy to measure, cut and glue, just one tip though, apply glue to...

Re: who needs jib sheet winches?

Re: Yanking a lower helm

I would also encourage you to keep the lower helm position, I've spent a fair bit of time on my mates' 55' power cat and I think life would be a bit difficult without the lower helm position.Just...

Re: Yellow Flame on Propane Force 10

My guess is, you have damaged the injector, they are very small for propane probably around .1mm in diameter. If you are sure the mixer tube(from injector to burner) is free of debris, the burners...

Re: Air in water system problem

A faulty check valve(non return valve) is another common problem with pressure systems. This should be fitted next to pump and it's role is to maintain the pressure once the pump has reached it's...

Re: 34 years of using CPES

Thank you Bill for your opinion on CPES, as a tradesman and wooden boat owner, I have often had a lingering doubt as to whether I should have replaced or treated wood. I guess all repair work is...

Re: What is the Black Fitting in this Sink Drain?

I use PVC with confidence(out of the sun) but I do agree with others that a flexible coupling be used at the seacock/thru hull.A tip I could offer is to use plumbers tape on your threaded joints, but...

Re: Automatic bilge pumps

Popular opinion seems to be, have seperate pump and water level/auto switch wired. The auto bilge pump combo seems to give trouble.

Re: Does Anyone Use a Pressure Washer Underwater?

I'm sure the pressure washer would work under water, but could you control it from a floating dinghy?Would it take off too much antifoul ? Perhaps you could try it with the wand running on...

Re: Holding Tank Hose

Just another tip when making your plumbing joints, remember to keep the inside bore of the pipe clean and burr free, I usually cut my pipe with a hacksaw which means I leave a burr. I often just use...

Re: Hull scraping

Give it a go yourself, your boat has a fin keel and spade rudder so it's not a huge wetted surface. You will be surprised that heavy looking growth will come off relatively easy. I've used a 2" and 3"...

Re: Four stroke 5-6hp for 25' SV, which make?

I'm using a Tohatsu 6hp four stroke. It has always been easy to start(cold) but has been difficult to start when hot, I'm used to it so it's no great problem. My mechanic gave me advice to store and...

But one piece of advice I can offer is to change the order in which your batteries sit in the bank, so that...
