Re: Using headphones on night watch?

Standing watch means you pay attention to EVERYTHING. With headphones you won't hear the sound of the nut falling out of the rigging when it hits the deck. You will only realize there is a problem...

I just found this string on here. I made several passages on Marisoll II between Solomons and Abacos as delivery crew. A lot of great sailing and fond memories of the Colonel and his...

Re: Possible crew position available

I could probably be available for the run. Retired chief also. 20,000 blue water miles. I've sailed a Hinckley upside down in the North Atlantic, can't say that I recommend it.
Have been told I'm a...

Re: Music to Sail by . . .

I've done a number of deliveries with a skipper who refuses to listen to music which has lyrics in English, his only language. He claims listening to the lyrics distracts him from the helm. So as a...

Re: Couple Looking for Crew on Charter

Most female sailors are smart enough to reef before the blow gets intense. It's only the blokes that make it happen the hard way....

Re: 2011 NARC Rally

We were towed into Beaufort, the last mile up the channel. There were no straps holding batteries in place, or securing systems on fridge lid, etc. Something that will be done next time I bet. A...

Re: 2011 NARC Rally

It was a tough run. I was aboard SONG, a Bill Tripp designed Hinckley 48. Knocked down, and then capsized, she came up fighting. Got us home in reasonably good order, in good part due to Captain...

So....what work remains to be done? Might affect one's decision to come aboard..
Otherwise sounds like an unbeatable deal.

Re: Bullying on the Waterway ( Sunset Lake, Miami )
