Re: What would you do for a mast?

Some fellow sailor calls out for help
Scores arrive with good advice
Others prefer only to yelp
While finding out nothing will do but a brand new device

Re: What would you do for a mast?

That's it!

As far as my knowledge goes, extruded alu profiles can only be a certain length. This means all very tall spars are sleeved and riveted from the builder. It sure as h@@l won't ever...

Re: Going PAPERLESS afloat?

Never heard of Chapmans before, and curious as i am looked it up.

Hardly something indispensable.

Re: Scandinavian flags (Norway, Sweden, Denmark) - any complications?

Of course they can. They can't fly a Swedish flag though. Unless the law has changed since 2009 ( I've been cruising full time elsewhere since then) ANY vessel has to be own by at least 50% by...

Re: Scandinavian flags (Norway, Sweden, Denmark) - any complications?

Ok, that's useful info. Though we've met with several Swiss flagged vessels over the years, I know nothing about costs and regulations there. I do know that France is to be avoided for those reasons....

Re: Scandinavian flags (Norway, Sweden, Denmark) - any complications?

What with Sweden?

Quite similar as for Denmark or Finland for that matter.

The pivotal question is what flag you'll register the boat under?

As for Sweden, any vessel has to be owned at...

Re: Wing Mast Experiences - Help! Input Wanted.

Obviously Yes! Thanks anyway, didn't really think before typing:rolleyes:

I too wonder as how to deal with the sail area of the rotating ( and not rottin- :banghead:autofill) mast in a SERIOUS...

Re: corsair 24 vs newick outrigger 26

+one

All Newick boats were sculptures. The F and Cs are fast and fun and foldable(already three important Fs there) bit not very pleasing to my eye at least.

Re: Wing Mast Experiences - Help! Input Wanted.

@Yeloya

Sorry to interrupt the thread with a little side question, but I am curious as to how reefing is easier with a rottin mast?

Subject already covered.

If you don't want to pay the premium for brand made products, or simply enough can't find them around your area - yes I've been in some rather remote places for years ;-D...

Re: A New Kind of Sail on the Horizon?

I don't get it at all, an attempt to reinvent the junk? More bizarre than interesting to me, but I had a very quick peak at it:confused:

Re: 30 - 40' cruiser for two people

Guess the less complicsted refit for you would be to tear the v-Berth out on a boat that otherwise pleases you and convert it to whatever you'd like! Probably storage. Not too difficult to do and...
