Re: Fairlead/chock needed?

Thanks. My midships cleats are much like yours, setting on the widest section of the vessel, just without the chock.

I was mostly inquiring about having a line lying over a rail that is cleated...

Re: Fairlead/chock needed?

Thanks for the replies. I'm also thinking of possibly laying pre-bent thin bronze sheeting over parts of the toerail where the aft cleats/samson posts will be located.

If anything it'll just...

Re: Fairlead/chock needed?

Yes, I would prefer cleats on or by the rail, forward and aft rather than a fairlead (where a line can slip out).

Just trying to avoid extra cleats forward when I already have two perfectly good...

Re: Fairlead Needed?

My apologies on this one. I obviously hit the wrong button and this unfinished thread posted. Still trying to figure out how to delete this thread. It's been corrected and updated since....

Fairlead/chock needed?

I've done away with my rotted mahogany bulwark and decided to simplify things by adding a fiberglass toerail to my 34' Falmouth Cutter instead. Sick of leaks, brightwork and rot in this Florida sun....

Ideas on Bulwarks?

Completely removed the rotten bulwarks, taffrail, blocks and covering boards on a 1999 34’ Falmouth Cutter. I’ve replaced the covering board with foam and glass and was initially going to replace the...

Re: Change of shaft from metric to SAE?

All good info, though when referring to a center bolt holding the split coupler in place I literally mean in the center of the back of the shaft (not the side of the shaft like a set screw would be)....

Change of shaft from metric to SAE?

Refitting the entire shaft system (metric) on my vessel, from split coupler to the propeller (even removed the stern tube). This had to be done because of wear and tear from the previous neglectful...

Re: LasDrop Gen 2 shaft seal?

Also, I've heard of a fine mist or spray coming from a few face seals when using the engine. Do you know if this is also true of the Gen 2?

I would think that dripless means just that, dripless,...

Re: LasDrop Gen 2 shaft seal?

Thanks Sailorboy.

Yes, I read that thread as well. Good one.

Your right, with such a nice product I would think that if the brass was a weak link they would of changed it by now.

As of...

LasDrop Gen 2 shaft seal?

Hey all,

Looking at purchasing a LasDrop Gen 2 shaft seal. I hear good reviews about them.

My main concern would be the two solid brass hose barbs for the engine water intake. I have had...

Re: TruDesign composite seacocks?

Thanks for the replies.

Please correct me if I'm wrong (which is probably the case). Is bronze from 30 years ago made of better quality than today? I've heard that good quality bronze (marine...

TruDesign composite seacocks?

Finding myself choosing between bronze or marelon seacocks I decided to go with Forespar’s marelon, mostly because I am just done with corrosion.

I don’t want to downplay bronze. It has stood...

42' Trimaran - 1976 Trimar Mk II Ocean Racer

Hey all, new here and am trying to find any info on this trimaran design. I can't find a thing. I was told it's a French design, perhaps home built? Solid glass or glass/ply construction? The struts...
